Therapy for Trauma

As a highly trained doctorate-level psychotherapist specializing in trauma, I offer comprehensive services for individuals navigating the complexities of Big T and Little T traumas. With expertise in modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and trauma-sensitive yoga (remote), I am committed to providing compassionate and effective care tailored to each individual's unique needs.

Understanding Trauma - What is Big T & Little T Trauma?

Trauma encompasses a wide range of experiences that overwhelm an individual's ability to cope and leave lasting emotional and psychological scars. Big T traumas often involve significant life-threatening events such as accidents, natural disasters, or acts of violence. Little T traumas, while less overtly life-threatening, can still have a profound impact on an individual's well-being and sense of safety, including experiences like emotional abuse, neglect, or chronic stress.

Trauma Treatment Modalities

My treatment approach for trauma draws from evidence-based modalities that address the complexities of healing and recovery:

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a powerful therapeutic approach that helps individuals process and integrate traumatic memories, thoughts, and emotions. By engaging in bilateral stimulation while recalling distressing experiences, individuals can reprocess traumatic memories and reduce the emotional distress associated with them.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

CPT focuses on identifying and challenging maladaptive thoughts and beliefs related to the trauma. Through structured cognitive restructuring exercises, individuals learn to develop a more adaptive understanding of their experiences and reduce symptoms of post-traumatic stress.

Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (Remote)

Trauma-sensitive yoga offers a gentle and empowering approach to healing trauma through mindful movement, breathwork, and body awareness. By cultivating a sense of safety and connection within the body, individuals can release stored tension, regulate their nervous system, and promote overall well-being.

Compassionate Care and Effective Results

As a trauma specialist, I am dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care that honors the resilience and strength of each individual. Through my training and clinical experience, I have witnessed the transformative power of trauma-focused modalities in helping individuals reclaim their lives, restore their sense of agency, and cultivate resilience in the face of adversity.
